FabTrol Systems has a long history of providing market-leading steel fabrication management software. In the past three decades, our product grew from a popular estimating application into the industry's most widely adopted and trusted solution, FabTrol MRP.

This experience, combined with extensive customer requirement research and the most current development platform, tools, technologies and processes, led to the development of our current flagship product, FabTrol Pro. It provides new features
and benefits to the industry never before seen in a fabrication management solution. Like its predecessor, FabTrol MRP, FabTrol Pro was developed by fabricators for fabricators to help increase efficiency, improve quality, save schedule time, and
reduce costs.

The trusted industry standard

FabTrol MRP has provided significant ROI to fabrication companies all over the world for many years and thousands of members of the industry workforce are highly trained in the software. As such, it is still in demand and will continue to be made available to our customers for years to come in support of its longtime prevalence in the marketplace. Some of the most powerful and comprehensive features can be found in the widely utilized Estimating modules and Advanced Production modules.

Making the transition to FabTrol Pro

While we are committed to supporting FabTrol MRP for years to come, many of our customers are making the transition to FabTrol Pro to take advantage of the hundreds of new features: a modern, easy-to-use interface; powerful processing capability; and simultaneous multi-job flexibility. Customers that are current on our Annual Support and Maintenance (ASM) plan can transition at no cost from FabTrol MRP to like modules in FabTrol Pro with a minimal investment in transitional user training.

Multi-project fabrication management

Do you have to switch between projects to record receiving, cutting or production progress?

Do you compare and juggle cut lists for multiple projects?

Does your software require one over-arching project to be open at all times?

Do you combine project data in spreadsheets to assess information for all active projects?

STOP single project-centric management silos!

Advantages of multi-project steel fabrication management

Multi-project steel fabrication management provides enormously valuable cross-project functionality to help manage your entire shop.

Cross-project where needed:

  • Cross-project material nesting
  • Cross-project views of job-specific purchasing
  • Cross-project receiving from a single vendor
  • A single, prioritized, cross-project and cross-material (plate, beams, angles, etc.) cutting plan
  • A single, prioritized, cross-project production plan Cross-project production progress tracking

Maintain project-specific:

  • Material traceability
  • Labor traceability
  • Operation/worker traceability
  • Production reporting
  • Shipping

A better way to manage

FabTrol Pro goes well beyond job-by-job management to help fabricators maximize both project and company profitability.

The evolution and impact of steel in architecture

As FabTrol celebrates our 30th anniversary of providing software to the steel industry, it's fun to contemplate the history of the steel construction industry through this infographic. It's worth noting that Bruce Graham and Faz Khan were both with Skidmore, Owings and Merrill—the awarded architectural firm on the One World Trade Center project team. While One World Trade center is missing from this infographic, check out this infographic on its construction.

What’s New in FabTrol Pro Version 1.19

Download PDF version »

FabTrol Pro Version 1.19 is full of powerful and unique features. The highlights include:

Plate Nesting

Nest plate material based on a filtered parts’ list and selection of purchasable sizes. Drag and drop partsonto selected material to create a manual nest and automatically fill POs with purchasable sizes; provide cut lists to the shop and mark individual parts or an entire nest as cut; create remnants for restocking and manage stock usage, including swapping actual and planned material use; and maintain full material traceability.

Estimating

Use basic estimating tools to calculate hard costs broken out by cost categories (e.g., materials, assembly labor, part labor, buyouts, etc.). Hard costs can be adjusted directly (e.g., labor hours applied to assemblies and parts, labor rates) or with a series of markups to account for profit and other company or project-specific requirements.

Purchasing

Create incremental, editable purchase order numbers that allow you to start with any number and synchronize new PO numbers in FabTrol Pro with your existing system.

Use advanced tax calculation functions to cover a range of complex tax scenarios.

Select standard PO report, vendor-specific PO and/or include other PO related reports when you issue a PO by email. Selected reports are automatically attached to the outgoing email.

Receiving

Provides improved offline bar-code receiving support to convey additional information with 2D bar codes.

Stock management

Select multiple stock lines and apply simultaneous status changes (reserve, schedule, pull, etc.) to all lines.

Other changes of note

New categories added to bill of materials “replace all” function: assembly type; billing code; accounting code.

User permissions added to allow editing of PO numbers and simultaneous selection of stock lines.
